What is mindfulness?

Relieving stress

Scientific studies have clearly demonstrated the benefits of mindfulness meditation in the reduction of stress. Practitioners commonly report an increased ability to relax, enhanced energy and enthusiasm for life, greater self-esteem, better concentration, and an ability to cope more effectively with stress at work and in other areas of daily life. One ground-breaking study even found that the simple practice of mindfulness measurably boosts immune system function.

Paying attention

Mindfulness is a way of paying careful attention to whatever is happening in our lives from moment to moment. For most of us, paying attention to our experience for even a few minutes can be very powerful. Most of the time our minds are easily distracted, shuttling between the past and future, and little time is actually spent living in the present.

Meeting life's challenges

Our capacity to listen deeply, make informed decisions, effectively handle stress, ignite innovation, and access previously untapped resources and apply them to the challenges we face every day, all rely on our capacity to be mindful and present. Only when we are fully present in the moment can we reach our highest potential and live a fulfilling life.
