Take control of your stress - on the iPhone!

New iPhone app empowers individuals to reduce their stress, which is the cause of 70% of all illness, both physical and mental, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Southampton, NY (September 17, 2010) - Mental Workout, a company designing self-help apps for mobile devices, and Stephan Bodian, the bestselling author of Meditation For Dummies" and an expert in stress management and positive psychology, today announce the release of the "Freedom From Stress" iPhone app.

Everyone is undoubtedly familiar with the amount of stress Americans experience, especially in these uncertain economic times:

  • "57% of Americans say they're under personal stress as a result of the country's economic crisis. One in four say they feel "serious" stress." - ABC/Washington Post

  • "75% of the general population experiences at least "some stress" every two weeks. Half of those experience moderate or high levels of stress during the same two-week period." - National Health Interview Survey (NHIS)

  • "54% of Americans are concerned about the level of stress in their everyday lives." - American Psychological Association (APA)

The "Freedom From Stress" iPhone app offers five effective, scientifically-proven strategies for eliminating stress and enhancing overall well-being. Users can apply the strategies in sequence, each building on the next, or they can begin where they feel inclined and stick with the strategies that work best for them to build their own personalized stress-management program.

The app includes a video introduction to stress, tips for dealing with stressful situations, suggestions for lifestyle changes, and a total of 18 guided exercises and meditations.

"With Mental Workout's focus on helping people reach their greatest potential, we are thrilled to be launching the Freedom From Stress iPhone app - an app aimed at combatting one of the most pervasive barriers to happiness and personal well-being", says Mickey Beyer-Clausen, Founder and CEO of Mental Workout.
